Functional Medicine Initial Consultation

During an initial session with a patient we cover everything from an extensive health background, to innovative lab testing, and a nutritional plan. Your initial consultation with Dr. Sharlin and his team also includes one follow up visit to review your laboratory results and your progress from your first visit, receive recommendations, and plan for moving forward. It is our goal to help you reach the maximum health potential for your brain and body.

This is a comprehensive approach to often complex health issues, especially when it involves the brain, spinal cord, peripheral nerves, and muscles. Therefore, the cost to address the root causes can vary for each person. Below you will find an overview of fees associated with your first visit and initial follow up, along with an explanation of the importance of labs and supplements to the process. Dr. Sharlin and his team will work with you to estimate your individual costs and prioritize fees to fit your budgetary needs.

STEP 1: BUILDING YOUR IN-DEPTH HEALTH PROFILE

  • Pre-appointment. Following your initial free telephone consultation our Functional Medicine Coordinator, you will be sent an email link to a cloud-based technology that will help you build a timeline of key events leading up to your illness. (Allow 2-3 hours, requires a computer or laptop with an internet connection.)

STEP 2: FIRST APPOINTMENT WITH DR. SHARLIN

  • Review and refine your functional medicine timeline.  (50 minutes)

STEP 3: FIRST APPOINTMENT WITH DR. SHARLIN

  • Meet with our in-house Functional Nutritionist, Angie Jenkins, R.D., L.D., owner of Health is Local, Greenacres Farm, and licensed dietician with over 20 years of clinical experience. (50 MINUTES)

STEP 4: INITIAL FOLLOW UP APPOINTMENTS

  • At your initial follow up Dr. Sharlin will review the progress you have made during your first 4-6 weeks of treatment following your visit to Sharlin Health and Neurology. He will go over your laboratory studies, make recommendations, and suggest a direction for future, ongoing treatment. You will also follow up with Angela Jenkins, R.D., L.D., to make sure your personalized nutrition plan is on track. (90 MINUTES)

LABORATORY TESTING

We offer in-house cutting-edge lab testing and costs may vary based on Dr. Sharlin’s recommendations. Your fee for laboratory tests ordered during the first appointment can range and will depend on the complexity of the condition. We will work within your budget to help you prioritize testing. Typically, the rate for the lab fees are lower for follow up appointments, since most of the labs are done during the first appointment.

SUPPLEMENT COST

We find the today’s foods and lifestyles don’t provide adequate amounts of nutrients and minerals. Often, we all need a little help to maintain the best possible balance. Our team will recommend supplements based on your lab results and deficiencies. If you have budgetary constraints, we will work closely with you to prioritize the most important supplements to add.

Laboratory Testing + Supplement Cost =

AVERAGE COST FOR AN INITIAL CONSULT CAN RANGE SINCE THE LABS & SUPPLEMENTS ARE IN ADDITION TO THE CONSULT FEE

FUTURE FOLLOW UP CONSULTATION

Dr. Sharlin – (50 MINUTES/25 MINUTES) –  $600/$300
Angela Jenkins, R.D., L.D. – (50 MINUTES/25 MINUTES) – $120/$60

CANCELLATION POLICY

Future Functional Medicine or Nutrition Consultation: Appointments must be cancelled or rescheduled at least 1 week prior to your scheduled appointment or a cancellation fee equal to 25% of the scheduled consultations will apply.

Protect Against Coronavirus: Doing our Part to Help you

In these difficult times we want to share with you some brief bullet-points about Sharlin Health and Neurology and COVID-19:
  • First and foremost, we want you to know that the safety and well-being of each and every one of you is number one importance to us. If you have a chronic lung condition or another health reason that would make you susceptible to the more severe effects of the coronavirus, we want you to stay at home.
  • Sharlin Health and Neurology is considered an “essential” business because we provide critically needed care to those with neurological disease in our community. Despite the threat of the coronavirus conditions like Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s disease, seizures, migraine, MS, and other neurological diseases do not go away. We are a privately-owned neurology practice here to serve our community.
  • We follow all CDC guidelines for protection against the dissemination of coronavirus. There have not been any known cases of coronavirus in our office, among staff and those customers who have entered our door.
  • We have six available exam rooms in our clinic and every effort will be made to prevent patients from having to stay in our waiting room. We can move you quickly from the reception desk to a private exam room, and have the doctor meet you there.
  • If you are sequestered at home, it may be possible to visit with you by telemedicine. We have the capability of using a telemedicine portal though the smart phone or computer that is HIPAA compliant and allows us to see you and speak with you. Alternatively, we can speak by telephone. Please ask our receptionist.
  • If you do come to our clinic for a doctor visit or a need a test please do not touch any surfaces you can avoid touching, and come by yourself or – if you do need to have someone with you – have them bring you to the door and we will help you from that point. If they wait in their vehicle, we can call them when you are finished.
  • If you have had contact with a person with known or suspected COVID-19, have had contact with a person coughing or with fever in the past 14 days, or you yourself have a fever, cough, or runny nose in the past 14 days, please let us know and we will either reschedule you or schedule you a telemedicine visit.

If you think you may have been exposed to COVID-19 please reach out to your nearest medical center. We will not be testing patients at Sharlin Health and Neurology.
